What is a Missional Community?

It’s more than a “small group”.  ConVerge Family Church’s vision for every member is to live out and experience the transformation associated with what is being taught. 

An effective missional community holds each member accountable, pushing comfort zones and digging deeper into what “transformation” could look like .  Each Missional Community’s (MC) priority is based on James 1.22-25 and Hebrews 10:24-25.

1. 1.People’s transformation is the highest priority.
   

2. 2.Transformation is a result of application. Each lesson must have a measurable application
   

3. 3.The material and/or lesson is not the main priority but supports life transformation.
   

4. 4.Facilitators are to listen for barriers that hinder members from applying what is being taught.

1. 1.At your first meeting, you will find a partner (if odd number, have a group of three) that will be your “buddy” for the next 11 weeks to keep you accountable to the ground rules.
   

2. 2.The ground rules support our member’s high commitment toward authentic community.  It clarifies the expectations for this high standard so people will not be offended by the transparency of the community.
   

3. 3.You cannot have more then two absences.  Of course, there are always unexpected situations that arise.  So, the legitimacy of the excuse is left to the facilitator.
   

4. 4.Reading assignments are due before arriving to the meeting.
   

5. 5.Full participation is your commitment.
